101 Goats sacrificed to pray for Owaisi’s life by a businessman

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi recently had a attack on his life in Uttar Pradesh. A businessman in the politician’s home in Hyderabad sacrificed 101 goats on Sunday to pray for the leader’s long life.

The animals were sacrificed at Bagh-e-Jahanara in Hyderabad. Malakpet MLA and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Ahmed Balala was present on the occasion, said reports.

Owaisi was travelling from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh to Delhi last week when bullets hit the Lok Sabha MP’s car near Chhajarsi toll plaza. Luckily, the AIMIM chief did not suffer any injuries in the incident. At least two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.

A number of AIMIM leaders have offered prayers since the February 3 incident to wish their firebrand leader a long life.

Following the incident, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs accorded Z-category security to Owaisi, who, however, declined it while speaking in Lok Sabha.

The Uttar Pradesh Police have said that the two accused – Sachin and Shubham – were involved in the incident with the main accused Sachin Pandit admitting to firing bullets at Owaisi’s car. The police have recovered a 9mm pistol from the main accused.

Later, on Saturday, while speaking at a rally in Chhaprauli town of Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh, Owaisi stated, “Those who attacked me are the ones who killed (Mahatma) Gandhi.”

It may be noted here that the AIMIM is contesting the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections for the first time. The polls in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7, with results due on March 10.
