Ambani dynasty: Now Isha, Anant given leadership roles

The announcement of a succession plan at the $222 billion-strong Reliance Industries was among the many other things that many awaited eagerly. Putting an end to the confusion surrounding the role of his children, billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani has introduced daughter Isha as leader of his conglomerate’s retail business.

Earlier, Ambani had named son Akash as chairman of Reliance Jio. Today he identified his youngest son Anant as leader for new energy business during the 45th Reliance AGM.

“Our next-gen leaders are confidently taking over the reins across businesses. Akash and Isha have assumed leadership roles in Jio and Retail respectively. Anant has also joined our New Energy business with great zeal,” the 65-year-old chairman of RIL said.

All three have fully inherited our Founder’s Mindset. They are First Among Equals in a young team of leaders and professionals who are already doing amazing things at Reliance. Of course, all of them are being mentored on a daily basis by our senior leaders, including myself and the Board of Directors,” the RIL chairman added.

“When I see them (next-gen), I see Dhirubhai Ambani’s pioneering spirit in action,” Ambani said, adding that he feels supremely confident that tomorrow’s Reliance will have a better army of leaders, as should happen in any dynamic organisation that empowers its young leaders.

Emphasising his belief in the fact that interests of an institution must always override those of any individual or family, Ambani noted, “We will create a robust architecture for tomorrow’s RIL to ensure that it remains a united, well-integrated and secure institution.”
