Bollywood veteran actor Anupam Kher recently revealed that the house he is living in, in Mumbai, is not his own but a rented apartment. He also expressed that he has only bought one property in Shimla, which was for his mother Dulari Kher.
Talking to E Times, he said, “I don’t even own an apartment in Mumbai. I live in a rented apartment. I decided 4-5 years back that I don’t want to own property. The only property I bought four years ago was a house for my mother in Shimla.”
Revealing the tender story behind his only real estate purchase for his mother, he informed how his mother search for a home led her to the lovely village of Shoghi, where she discovered a one-bedroom apartment in a century-old house.
Anupam told the reporter, “She loved that place and called me up and said, ‘I found a small house with an entrance from the outside’. I asked the broker how many rooms there are in the house and he told me that it had nine bedrooms.” And Kher went on to buy that nine-bedroom apartment for his mother.
Recalling his mother’s reaction, Anupam said his mother scolded him and said, “‘Aap ka dimag kharab hai! Mujhe nahi chahiye itna bada ghar (You are mad! I don’t want such a huge house).”
On the work front, Anupam is currently in the US for a show Zindagi Ka Safar, in which he will be seen sharing his life journey in the film industry.
