Bhajji duped of Rs 4 crores in Chennai; files a police complaint

One of India’s best, Harbhajan Singh is keeping his fans anxious on multiple counts these days. A few days ago, he had pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 for unspecified reasons. Now a report has come to light, that “Bhajji” as he is popularly known, has filed a complaint with the Chennai city police against a businessman who he claims has duped him of Rs 4 crores.

The businessman, it is learnt, has approached the Madras High Court seeking anticipatory bail after the ace cricketer had lodged a complaint against his name.

Harbhajan, it is said, had met the businessman through a common friend. He then loaned the amount to the businessman, named G Mahesh, in 2015. But then Mahesh allegedly never paid up even though Bhajji is said to have approached him on several occasions.

Mahesh, last month, had issued a cheque of Rs 25 lakhs to Bhajji which bounced due to insufficient funds. Having gone to Chennai recently, Harbhajan then decided to lodge a formal complaint against the dupester.

The complaint is with Neelnkarai, assistant commissioner of police, Visveshvaraiah to probe the issue. Mahesh has already been summoned. He has meanwhile filed for anticipatory bail.
