The Uttar Pradesh state unit of Congress has called for those wanting to contest the upcoming Vidhan Sabha polls to submit their applications with a deposit of Rs 11, 000. A circular to this effect has been issued by UP Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu.
Lallu has mentioned that the district and city Congress committee chiefs have been authorized to collect the said applications at the district headquarters while Sanjay Sharma and Vijay Bahadur will be in charge of the process at the state level.
“The amount should be deposited via demand draft, pay order or RTGS,” said the circular.
While the circular asks prospective candidates to submit applications by September 25, there is no mention of whether there will be a refund or not if the aspirant doesn’t get a ticket.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party has also appointed Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan as in charge of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
