Conversion of 200 Valmikis to Buddhism was a ‘fake news’, claims UP police

If conspiracy is the measure of a threat a politician faces, Yogi Adityanath, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, appears to be the biggest one for the Opposition and Liberal-Left gang these days.

A report had appeared recently that 236 people belong to Valmiki community had embraced Buddhism as they were facing oppression and financial constraint. The impression was given that Hathras case was the turning point. The alleged conversion was said to have happened in Karehra village of the Sahibabad police station area. It was also claimed that everyone got a certificate of conversion.

However, it has now come to light that it was a mere conspiracy. That it’s a fake news. There was no evidence of conversion or any certificate or registration number that could prove it.

It all began changing when one Montu Valmiki of the same area registered a case in the police station on the matter. In his complaint he said it was intended to create disharmony in society and it was fake conversion. Police then investigated and found his complaint genuine. It came to light that the people were presented with papers, claiming to be government schemes, their signatures were secured and later proclaimed that they had converted.
