Mahatma Gandhi’s statue was vandalised in Davis, California and India has responded in strong words the “malicious and despicable act.” It has taken up the issue with the US state department and sought “appropriate action” against the vandals.
It is suspected that Khalistani elements in California had vandalised the statue. In December last year, a similar act was done on Gandhi’s statue in Washington DC. Khalistani flags were put on his bust in front of the Indian embassy in Washington.
The statue was gifted by the Indian government to California state in 2016.
