Governor slams Mamata on ‘slur on governance’ and ‘monstrous corruption’

Never perhaps a Governor has had such scathing words to say to a state government which West Bengal’s Jagdeep Dhankhar has now blurted out against the Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) government.

In a series of tweets on Monday morning, Dhankhar called out Mamata Banerjee for the “slur on governance” as the corruption and incredible amassing of wealth by public servants is “open secret and talk of the town.”

Tweeted Dhankhar:

“Reports of monstrous corruption and incredible amassing of wealth by public servants @MamataOfficial, their cronies and middlemen are worrisome. Systemic failure to dent such nefariously flourishing corruption industry, an open secret and talk of town, is a slur on governance.”

Further, “Through probe and expose of mega corruption scam-channelization of ill-gotten wealth, its parking in assets in and out of country, by “men in uniform” @kolkatapolice @WBPolice, their cronies called for. Am committed to ensure exemplary consequences to these corrupt elements.”

Dhankhar concluded his tweet thread by promising that these flourishing “dens of corruption” must be busted so that democracy survives. Time for “kings of corruption” to be on the run and face wrath of law. It will be a travesty of justice if corrupt can force the honest to be on run…”

Dhankhar seemed to have a chartered accountant on mind as the “honest on run” who was arrested by the Kolkata Police on Sunday which he termed as a “politically inspired operation.” Dhankhar believed it was meant to impede a team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax department investigating the coal mafia and cow smugglers.

The person arrested is Gopal Aggarwal on a corruption charge.

Dhankhar alleged that Kolkata Police was harassing the accountant “under political pressure” to hamper the investigation of CBI and tax department.
