How about Covid vaccine tourism now: Mumbai company hedges its bet

While the entire world is looking with desperation at pharma companies for the coronavirus vaccine, some marketers are taking full advantage of the situation.

Mumbai-based Tours and Travels company has announced a coronavirus vaccine tourism package for individual clients who wish to travel to the United States for the shot.

The three days and four nights package from Mumbai to New York and then back to Mumbai would cost you Rs 1,74,999 which includes airfare and hotel stay.

On Monday, Edelweiss Mutual Funds CEO Radhika Gupta took to Twitter to share a screenshot of a WhatsApp message that has been circulating. The message reads,

“As soon as the Pfizer vaccine is officially published to sell in America (tentative date December 11), we are ready to get done for a select few clients”.

The company said it’s not procuring/holding any vaccine and everything will be done as per official US government permissions.

“We just need your registration with us with your name, email address, phone number, age, and one of your physical complications and passport copy. Rest everything will be done as per official permissions of the health department there. Unless they allow official sales to people other than Americans, we cannot give you the vaccine,” the message reads.

The advertisement can be considered insensitive to some but it is not surprising.  With the Coronavirus vaccine becoming the most wanted commodity yet to arrive in 2020, the world is bursting with enthusiasm and anticipation.

Recently, Biotech company Moderna said on Monday that its experimental Covid-19 vaccine had 94.5 percent efficacy based on early results from its continuing late-stage clinical trial.

The first rounds of vaccinations are expected to be given to select Americans starting December 13, as per reports in US media.
