Kejriwal’s silence on DU student’s murder is ‘appeasement’, says BJP Delhi Chief

Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party’s chief Adesh Gupta targeted Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, for his silence over the matter of the murder of an 18-year-old Delhi University student.

Adesh Gupta has accused Kejriwal of moving into his virtual shell again and doing appeasement politics.

On Wednesday, Rahul Rajput, a second-year student of Delhi University’s School of Open Learning was thrashed and beaten to death allegedly over an affair with a girl belonging to a different caste.

According to his family, he received a call regarding tuition and was asked to meet someone in a narrow lane. Later when he reached there, he was beaten by four-five men, including the girl’s brother.

He was immediately taken to the hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.

Police have registered the case under section 302 for murder and 34 for Acts done by several persons in furtherance of the common intention of the Indian Penal Code based on a statement of an uncle of the deceased.

Police have also appealed to people to not give this case as religious colour as it was a dispute between the two families. “Md Raj, Munawar Husaain and 3 minors arrested. We appeal to people to not give any colour to the case”, the DCP Vijayanta Arya (northwast) said.

BJP leader Kapil Mishra has also demanded the compensation of Rs. 1 crore for the family from the Delhi government.
