Mumbai Police implicates India Today now in TRP case: Times Now





The Mumbai Police had named Republic TV, Fakt Marathi and Box Cinema on Thursday, but today it also implicated India Today news channel in connection with the case, according to the remand note accessed by Times Now.

The remand note reveals that accused Vishal Bhandari had engaged in financial transactions to manipulate viewership of the TV news channels.

The key accused in the case named India Today while the news channel has been mentioned 3-4 times in the Mumbai Police’s remand note.

Four people were arrested in connection with the case, including two ex-employees of Hansa Research Group and two owners of the two regional channels.

The remand note claims that the malpractice has been going on for a period of more than six months from November 2019 till May 2020.

The Mumbai Police have sought remand of the accused till October 13.

Officials in the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), which releases weekly rating points for television channels in India, are also being interrogated in connection with the scam.
