My 12-year-old son has better cricket awareness: Hafeez slams Raja

Former Pakistani cricketer and commentator Rameez Raja has received some very harsh words from Mohammad Hafeez, a cricketer who has done well in shorter formats of the game.

Raja had opined that cricketers who are 38 years old should give up the game and let youngsters seize the opportunity.

Hafeez has now shot back saying that his 12-year-old son has better game awareness than the former Pakistani opener.

“I acknowledge Ramiz [Raja] services for Pakistan cricket as a player. I respect his opinion but I have reservations over his cricketing sense and game awareness,” Hafeez told Cricket Pakistan.

“If you talk to my 12-year-old son, even his game awareness is better than Ramiz bhai,” he added.

Hafeez went on to add that while Raja might have made those remarks to gain more popularity on social media, he would want to play for Pakistan as long as he is fit and performing.

“If Ramiz bhai wants to continue saying such things for promoting his YouTube channel, then I can’t stop with but I will continue playing for Pakistan as long as I’m fit and performing,” he said.

In April earlier this year, Hafeez had asked both Shoaib Malik and Hafeez to retire gracefully from international cricket.
