Puri gives a lifetime dressing down to Rajdeep Sardesai: ‘This is not journalism’

Union minister for civil aviation Hardeep Puri has given a dressing down to journalist and anchor Rajdeep Sardesai which he won’t forget in a hurry.

“Rajdeep, are you an objective anchor or are you a spokesman of people who are trying to push a false narrative,” said Puri after the anchor had questioned government’s “haste” in pushing through the three Farm Bills in his show on India Today channel.

In a snippet, shared by a twitterati, Puri is seen hauling up Rajdeep with words: “Let me caution you, this is not journalism. Then too I had to push the facts in front of you, you are doing precisely that,” said an irritated Puri.

Puri called out Rajdeep for spinning a wrong narrative, stating that if the discussion couldn’t take place it was the Opposition who were climbing on benches and breaking the microphones of presiding officer of the House.

“Who are the people who came on to the well of the house? Who are the people who climbed up on the dais and broke the presiding officer’s mike?

“The Akalis wanted an assurance; the Prime Minister gave that assurance, Prakash Singh Badal was chairing that committee which gave these recommendations, When they said we needed letter from Narendra Singh Tomar, we provided that letter.

“So let’s step back a little. Let’s isolate the people who speak with a forked tongue, and I would advice you, as an objective anchor, to retain credibility.

“What about a loss of Rs 3,500 crores a day? What about all the hardships which are being given to the people? Today all sane, well-intentioned people, should find a way forward.

“Please do your job as a journalist. And encourage the people to come to the table.”

The farmers unions have boycotted the sixth round of talks with the Centre. They want repeal of law and are not coming forward for any specific objection they have to the Farm Acts.

The Opposition parties and Leftist media meanwhile are stoking the protests with false propaganda and instigating farmers.
