Ranaut’s office torn down in Mumbai; tweets another “Babur” on “Ram Temple”; HC stays
A civic official said the Shiv Sena-administered Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday has torn down the Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut's office "illegal alterations" at her Bandra bungalow.
However, the Bombay High Court has stayed the demolition process, as of now, seeking to know why did the city civic body enter the property when the owner was not present.
The national award-winning actress will returned to Mumbai from Himachal Pradesh in style today and massive crowd of supporters and her opponents were waiting at the Mumbai airport in anticipation. All hell broke loose when she arrived (see image below: Courtesy India Today).
She has alleged that the fight between her and Shiv Sena is the reason that the Maharashtra government is targeting her.
SHARAD PAWAR DISAPPROVES BMC's ACTION: Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar of NCP, which is an ally of Shiv Sena along with Congress, has questioned the BMC’s sudden action on “illegal construction” at Ranaut’s Pali Hill home.
The NCP chief pointed out that Illegal constructions was not a new menace in Mumbai. He said such actions raise doubts in people’s minds. He also said if the “demolition” was done as per procedure, then it was appropriate Bombay High Court has stayed the “demolition order” in the absence of Ranaut, the owner of the property.
A civic official told The Press Trust of India (PTI) that the demolition work was started at 11 am and the 33-year-old actress confirmed it on Twitter by sharing pictures of BMC workers, where they can be seen demolishing her property with the caption, “Pakistan…#deathofdemocracy.”
A plea has been filed in the High Court by Kangana Ranaut's lawyer against the actions of BMC workers and hearing on the matter started at 12:30 pm today.
In her another tweet, Ranaut had said, “I am never wrong and my enemies prove again and again this is why my Mumbai is POK now.”
In one of her previous tweets, Ranaut had compared Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) with Mumbai that infuriated MP Sanjay Raut and other Shiv Sena leaders.
Ranaut has written a series of tweets today, and in one tweet she compared BMC to ‘Babur’ and her Pali Hill office in Bandra West to ‘Ram Temple’.
Meanwhile, Greater Mumbai's Municipal Corporation called Ranaut's lawyer's allegation "baseless."
The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai said, “After receipt of the notice, you continued the work...So, the notice structure as mentioned in the notice is liable for forthwith demolition at your risk, cost, and consequences.”
The BMC officials had posted a second notice outside the actress's property today informing her that the demolition work is set to take place.
A 'caveat' was also filed by the BMC in the local court yesterday saying if Ranaut tries to challenge the notice issued to her then they should be heard first.
On Tuesday, the Maharashtra government had announced that the investigation will be done by Mumbai police on the allegations made by Adhyayan Suman, the former boyfriend of Kangana Ranaut that she took drugs.
