Left activist Shehla Rashid’s father Abdul Rashid Shora has accused her of having close contacts with Zahoor Watali and independent MLA Engineer Rashid. Watali and Rashid are both in jail presently for their involvement with terrorists. Watali has been accused of laundering money and using a hawala conduit for terror money.
Shora said his daughter was issuing threats to him through her PSO Aquib and that he has written a letter to DGP Dilbagh Singh. He claimed that Watali-Rashid duo had offered him Rs 3 crore at one time in lieu of Shehla joining a “new party”. He also said that Shah Faesal, who had founded Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM), early in 2019, knew about all this. Shehla was holding a senior position in JKPM and was virtually number two in the party.
Shehla’s father demanded that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) should investigate all her bank transactions. They should find out how she could afford a lavish lifestyle and who paid her for this. What are her sources of income needs to be found out and this in itself will unravel things, he said.
Shora said he was called to Watali’s house in Baghat Barzulla in 2017 regarding the transaction of Rs 3 crore. He claimed that he had tried his best to dissuade Shehla from joining Watali and others but was ignored.
Shehla said her father should not be taken seriously anyone as he was a wife beater. She claimed that her father had been restrained from entering their home by a court in Srinagar.
