Why Owaisi is calling Muslims only ‘cash cows’ for Mamata Banerjee?

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has lashed out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for doing nothing for Muslims and other minorities in the state.

In an interview to Republic TV, Owaisi said she is the same Mamata Banerjee who defended and supported  current Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee over Gujarat riots.

He said, “She is the same Mamata Banerjee who became a minister in BJP-NDA. She has only brought the Saffron party in Bengal.”

Owaisi asked Banerjee what exactly had she done as CM for Bengal’s Muslims. Some 15 percent of Bengal’s Muslims are outside the formal education (the 3rd highest after UP & Bihar), 80 percent live on less than Rs 5000 a month, some 38.3 per cent in rural Bengal earn Rs2,500 a month.

“I want to ask her what has she done for the Muslim minority so far. She is just trying to develop fear among them to gain their votes,” he added.

Asaduddin Owaisi said the manner in which Mamata Banerjee is speaking these days exposes her badly. He said TMC government considers Muslim community in the state as ‘cash cows’ and they have looted all their ‘milk’ and made ‘mishti Doi’ from them.

(Owaisi terming Muslims as “cash cows” for Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal is intriguing. One could understand that minority appeasement is an often repeated charge against ruling dispensation in West Bengal. But using “cash cows”, in plain terms, implies gaining material benefits. Is it “extorting” from infiltrators who haven’t stopped coming to this side of the Bangladesh border? Or is it the smuggling mafia which could not flourish without sharing its spoils for political patronage?)

Owaisi said that when the CAA debate was being taken up in the Lok Sabha, 6 of Mamata Banerjee’s MPs had run away. Mamata Banerjee’s MP did not even support me when I asked for division in Triple Talaq Bill, he added.

Taking a jibe at Banerjee’s recent ‘gotra’ proclamation, he said, “You can’t buy people who have no gotra. You can’t scare people who know no fear. Only criminal gangs divide up territories between themselves and attack each other when someone enters.”

When asked why his party candidates are not being able to campaign in many parts of West Bengal, he said this is very “strange” because at some points they are denied permission and in others they are given excuses citing security issues.

He also accused the TMC government for denying permission and even  register fake cases against them. He said now they have hope only from the Almighty.
