To ensure the safety and dignity of women in the state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched ‘Mission Shakti’ on Sunday.
The Chief Minister said the campaign, on the occasion of Navratri, stated that his government has “zero tolerance” towards crime against women and girls.
The campaign will continue for the next six months till Basant Navratri, the chief minister said
The government further said that each one of 1,535 police stations will have women’s help desk handled by a woman constable. These police stations will also be equipped with restrooms for women and facility of drinking water. They will also be equipped with CCTV cameras. Same arrangements will also be made at about 350 tehsils.
He also mentioned how different departments of the government are also contributing their efforts towards this campaign by conducting various activities to make people aware. He said various self-help groups, teachers, and volunteers are also involved in the mission.
The campaign will be launched in phases. The first one is about creating awareness.
He said women and children should be made aware of helpline numbers like ‘1090’, ‘181’, ‘1076’, and ‘112’.
He further added that they will also provide these helpline numbers in Bhojpuri and Bundelkhandi dialects so that it will be more comfortable and convenient for women to communicate.
Yogi Adityanath also expressed his strong views against child marriage, saying such practices should be publicly condemned.
In the second phase, action will be taken against the corrupt people involved in various departments associated with women empowerment and bringing justice to women.
The special awareness drive is aimed at boosting the morale of women and children and empowering them by making them aware of their rights.
