Big moment: RRR’s Naatu Naatu wins Golden Globes

RRR came, saw and conquered at the Golden Globes.

SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster won Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu, one of the two categories it was nominated in. It missed out in the Best Non-English Language Film which was won by Argentina, 1985 from Argentina. Other nominees in the category include All Quiet on the Western Front (Germany), Close (Belgium), Decision to Leave, (South Korea).

RRR is being represented at the Golden Globe Awards by its director and stars – SS Rajamouli, Jr NTR and Ram Charan who is accompanied by wife Upasana Kamineni. Jr NTR and Ram Charan play freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seetharamaraju in the period drama, set in the British-occupied India of the 1920s. The cast includes Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn as well as British actors Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris.

RRR, which made over ₹ 1,200 crore globally, has already won a slew of international honours including Best Director for Rajamouli at the New York Film Critics Circle awards. RRR has submitted itself for consideration in various Oscar categories as well and is expected to be nominated in at least one category if not more.

The Golden Globes is being held in Los Angeles with comedian Jerrod Carmichael as host. 

The song Naatu Naatu was sung by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava and penned by Chandrabose.

Soon after winning the award, Ram Charan and Jr NTR treated their Insta families to pictures from their celebrations. In the first image, Ram Charan, Jr NTR, SS Rajamouli and music composed M. M. Keeravani happily posed for the camera. In the next image, we can see M.M. Keeravani posing for the camera with the trophy. Along with the photos, he wrote, “& (And) We Won The Golden Globes @goldenglobes @rrrmovie #natunatu.” Soon after the actor shared the post, fans flooded the comment section. A user wrote, “this just the beginning so proud of u!!!!” Another wrote, “proud moment for Indian cinema and especially for all the Telugu’s Naatu people,” while others wrote, “Congratulations.”

Earlier today, Ram Charan treated his Insta family to a picture of the RRR team walking the red carpet. The actor is accompanied by his wife, Upasana Kamineni. In the caption, the star wrote, “THE #RRR FAMILY! On the way to the GOLDEN GLOBES.”

Spielberg Again

Steven Spielberg’s film The Fabelmans won two of the biggest awards of the show – Best Film (Drama) and Best Director. The Banshees Of Inisherin triumphed as well with Best Film (Musical/Comedy), Best Film Actor (Musical/Comedy) for Colin Farrell and Best Screenplay. Everything Everywhere All At Once scored two thrilling wins – Best Film Actress (Musical/Comedy) for the iconic Michelle Yeoh and Best Supporting Actor (Film) for Ke Huy Quan.
