Bombs, RDX recovered from Delhi, Amritsar, Srinagar

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered from an unattended bag found at the Ghazipur Flower Market in East Delhi.

The National Security Guard, along with the bomb squad, defused the bomb through controlled explosion in an abandoned area. 

“A bomb disposal squad of National Security Guard has defused the IED recovered from Ghazipur. Samples of the IED have been collected; team to submit a report on the chemical component used to assemble the explosive,” the NSG said.

Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said there was no blast and the IED was neutralized.

Additional deputy police commissioner (east delhi) Vinit Kumar said around 10.30 am, their control room received a call regarding the bag. He added a police team immediately reached the spot and cordoned off the area and alerted other agencies about it. Thereafter, the bomb squad, sniffer dogs, and experts from the NSG also arrived.

 Officials further informed that the suspicious bag found in Ghazipur Sabzi Mandi was taken to open ground and was buried eight feet underground in a pit.

In a major development, the Amritsar Special Task Force (STF) recovered 5 kg of RDX from near the international border in Attari’s Dhanoa Kala village on Friday. The explosive was defused by the bomb squad present on the spot. Besides the RDX, the STF has also recovered six AK 47 rifle rounds, two grenades, three UBGL, seven detonators, three fuses, a pouch and a bag.

The Bomb Disposal Squad of the security forces defused a grenade which was recovered inside a cooker wrapped in a suspicious bag at Khwaja Bazaar Chowk in downtown Srinagar on Friday.
