The Central Bureau of Investigation began its probe into the Hathras case by visiting the victim’s village this afternoon.
The team visited the millet field in the UP village where the accused, as per the victim’s brother, had tried to strangle the 20-year-old woman. The victim’s mother was also taken to the crime scene.
The CBI officials were accompanied by a forensic expert, police personnel and the victim’s brother. It spent two hours at the crime scene. Later the team visited the site where the victim was cremated.
Both mother and brother of the victim were also questioned at home.
The CBI team is headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Seema Pahuja, who has earlier handled the Shimla rape-murder case.
