CCTV footage reveals attacks on Punjab Police Intelligence headquarters

The CCTV footage of the attack by a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) at the Punjab Police’s intelligence headquarters located in Mohali’s Sector 77 has been accessed.

The camera footage helped the cops in tracking the people who allegedly took part in the attack. In the video accessed by Times Now, a bright flash of light can be seen when the rocket hits the building at 7:45 pm.

The attack took place from a moving vehicle and the attackers fled from the spot immediately.

The third floor which was hit by the rocket has offices of units investigating drugs and mafia in the state. The attack took place from a white Maruti Swift vehicle and due to impact from the blast, the CCTV camera wobbled.

A preliminary investigation suggests the involvement of two men who came in a car and fired the RPG at the building.

Meanwhile, the launcher used in the attack has been recovered and a few suspects have been rounded up.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has promised the strictest punishment to those trying to spoil the state’s atmosphere.

A case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosives Act has been lodged at Mohali’s Sohana police station.

In his statement, the sub-inspector said he heard the sound of an explosion on the third floor of the building and when he went there, he saw smoke coming out of room number 41.

A projectile, after hitting the wall and breaking the window panes, hit the roof of the room before falling on a chair, he added.

Police are also suspecting the involvement of gangster-turned-terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda, who is believed to be in Pakistan.

Rinda has been taking help from local gangsters to carry out anti-national activities in Punjab.
