Centre offers free food grain to 80 crores in May and June as Covid relief





The Modi government has announced 5kg free food grains to be provided to around 80 crore beneficiaries for the next two months. 

It would cost the Centre Rs 26,000 crore on this initiative in May and June, under the PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana. 

The country recorded more than 3.32 lakh new Coronavirus cases on Friday. 

India’s caseload has now risen to 1,62,63, 695 and active cases presently are 24,28,616. 

The death toll, minus the lates 2,263 deaths, is 1,86,920. 

Active cases now are 14.93 per cent of total infections in the country. The national recovery rate has now dropped to 83.92 per cent. 

As per PTI, Covid-19 tally in the country crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 2020. It’s now over 1.50 crore, as on April 19, 2021.
