The Supreme Court has sought a status report from Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Assam in two days over the spike the coronavirus cases in these states.
“We are hearing of a huge spike in the current month. We want a latest status report from all states. Worse things may happen in December if states aren’t well prepared,” the top court said.

A stinging rebuke from the three-judge bench came from Justices Ashok Bhushan, R Suash Reddy and MP Shah against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi.
“What’s the present situation, what extra efforts you are taking? We have to look into it…Delhi has to answer a lot of things,” said the top court.
Delhi is touching 5.5 lakhs of positive cases, making it the sixth-worst hit state in India.
Gujarat has seen spikes in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara.
Maharashtra, meanwhile, continues to be on top swith nearly 18 lakhs cases.
India is presently the world’s second worst hit country in terms of total numbers (91.39 lakhs) but the recovery rate is among the fastest.
