Donald Trump and wife Melania both test Coronavirus positive

The United States President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump tests positive for coronavirus after one of his close advisors, Hope Hicks got infected with the virus, bringing the virus into his inner circle. The President announced this news by tweeting through his official handle on Friday morning.

“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!.” Trump tweeted.

In a tweet earlier than this, he informed that they are waiting for their COVID-19 results as Hope Hicks, who has travelled with Donald Trump on Air Force One and Marine One this week, tested positive.

With just 32 days before the election on November 3, Mr. Trump’s positive test results could bring immediate difficulties in his campaign trail. The sitting American president is 74 years old and falls into the highest risk category of the virus, which has killed more than 1 million people worldwide.

Even if the Trumps remain asymptomatic, he still has to withdraw himself from the campaign and stay isolated in the White House. Trump, time and again has mocked scientists, saying they were mistaken on the severity of the situation. He has also refused to wear a mask in public for several months and expressed his confidence about his health mentioning that he’s far away from being vulnerable to this virus despite his close ones got affected.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also wished President Donald Trump and his wife a speedy recovery through a tweet.

“Wishing my friend @POTUS @realDonaldTrump and @FLOTUS a quick recovery and good health.”

A statement is also released by the White House on Friday in which the spokesman, Judd Deere, remarks, “The president takes the health and safety of himself and everyone who works in support of him and the American people very seriously… White House Operations collaborates with the physician to the president and the White House Military Office to ensure all plans and procedures incorporate current CDC guidelines and best practices for limiting COVID-19 exposure to the greatest extent possible, both on complex and when the president is traveling”
