Dramatic: Fadnavis hands over pen drive of “evidence” of conspiracy

Amid an ongoing blame game over probes by central agencies against several Maharashtra leaders, the Leader of Opposition in the state Devendra Fadnavis, on Tuesday alleged that the special public prosecutor of the state government has been planning a conspiracy against BJP leaders in Maharashtra.

In a dramatic move, Fadnavis handed over a pen drive with 125 hours of video recording to the Assembly Speaker and demanded a CBI probe into the matter.

“What is going on in the state if SPP (special public prosecutor) of state government plans a conspiracy against us? All these things have happened, I have videos. Who will investigate this? I request you (Speaker) that this must be investigated by CBI,” Fadnavis said in the Maharashtra Assembly.

Fadnavis further added that the opposition has no trust in the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state. He also threatened to go to court against the government.

The former Maharashtra chief minister said that the 125-hour video in the pen drive showed a special public prosecutor conspiring to trap the opposition leaders in MCOCA and other such cases.

“A copy will be given to Home minister Dilip Walse Patil too,” he further said.

Earlier today, the Income Tax department conducted raids at offices and premises of close aides of Maharashtra Ministers Aaditya Thackeray and Anil Parab. The move was condemned by Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, who questioned why actions were being taken only against leaders from Maharashtra and West Bengal.

“Why are central agencies targetting a selected few from states like West Bengal and Maharashtra…don’t they get anybody else from other states, it’s a tactic to pressurize and destabilize the MVA government,” Raut said.
