Ex-servicemen to get 5% reservation in UP, announces Yogi Adityanath





Ex-servicemen from all three services—Army, Navy and Air Force—would be eligible for the 5% reservation in the Group C posts in Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister Yogi Adityanath announced it here today.

The Uttar Pradesh state cabinet today approved an amendment to the Uttar Pradesh Public Service (reservations for physically handicapped, dependents of freedom fighters and ex-servicemen) Act 1993 to ensure the above-mention reservation.

The UP government spokesperson, in a tweet, said: “With this decision, the morale of former officers and employees of the Indian Army will be increased and their family will get effective support.” As many people from UP join defence services, the decision will prove to the beneficiary for all.

Further, the UP government has increased the financial support provided to the family of martyred serviceperson of the armed forces from Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 50 lakhs.

The dependents of the martyred soldiers after April 1, 2017 would get jobs in the government departments.
