Farmers’ stir: Rahul Gandhi again caught peddling a lie in a doctored image

Rahul Gandhi received a fresh coat on his tattered credibility with a tweet of his this Saturday morning.

“It’s a very sad picture. We used to have the slogan of “Jai Jawan Jai Kisaan.” But the arrogance of prime minister Narendra Modi has put Jawans in front of Kisaans. This is too dangerous,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

The image he posted with his tweet (above) shows a policeman wielding a baton ostensibly on a farmer running for cover.

Within minutes, a tweet emerged in response from Amit Malviya, chief of BJP IT cell, which showed the real video and the edited one, the image of which Rahul Gandhi has posted. It shows a daylight between the policeman and the farmer, the former raising it as a threat and not actually hitting the subject.

Malviya didn’t mince his words in his tweet:

“Rahul Gandhi must be the most discredited opposition leader India has seen in a long time.”

Indeed with Congress in such doldrums, losing elections not just for Bihar state assembly but in bypolls around the country recently, with its own top leaders raising the banner of revolt, and with even opposition such as KCR in Telangana asking everyone but Congress to come under a front against the BJP, the last thing the Gandhi scion needs for his and his party’s political future is to stop lying. There are far too many evidences in the last few years to suggest he doesn’t care—and the nation would stop caring even less.

The doctored image posted by Rahul Gandhi also underlines how dangerous has become the manipulation in today’s digital times.
