Himanta Biswa Sarma chosen to be next chief minister of Assam





Himanta Biswa Sarma has been elected by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to be the next chief minister of Assam.

The present chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal tendered his resignation to governor Jagadish Mukhi earlier on Sunday, sources said. 

Biswa is presently Assam’s health minister. He was elected as the legislative party leader during a meeting of the BJP legislature party. 

Earlier today, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal tendered his resignation to Governor Jagadish Mukhi prior, Raj Bhawan sources said.
