“I know media is Congressi by heart”, says Congress leader after girls’ stampede

The girls’ marathon organised by Congress party in the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh turned into a stampede after the party didn’t do sufficient preparations.

However, instead of accepting the mistake, Congress leader Supriya Aron resorted to absurd statements and said when a stampede can occur at Vaishno Devi, then why not here in marathon. Apart from this, she apologised to media workers for the chaos and disorder rather than young women and girls who have been hurt.

“When there can be a stampede in Vaishno Devi, then these are girls, this is human nature as everyone wants to stand first. But I apologise to the media persons for this. I know the whole media is Congressi by their heart, the whole media wants Congress to return to power.,”she said

She further claimed that the whole incident might even be a conspiracy.

In one of the videos, some girls running in front can be seen tripping and falling to the ground, forcing those behind to stop suddenly. This almost resulted in a stampede and some of the participants were injured. Most participants were neither wearing masks nor following Covid protocols.

Terming the incident unfortunate, Geeta Shakya, the Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) women’s wing chief, slammed the Congress for its “irresponsible” statements.

“First the Congress leaders lured these girls, using them for political gains, and then after the incident, the way they reacted on the incident was shameful. They did not provide first aid to the injured girls and later on, held them responsible for the incident,” Shakya said.
