Javed Akhtar compares RSS followers to Talibans on NDTV: Complaint filed

Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar

Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar has been slapped with a complaint for his obnoxious comparison of Rashstriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal with Talibans but knowing how influentials get away with murder in this country, not much is likely to come out of it.

In a talk show on NDTV, on September 3, Akhtar said: “The way the Talibans are trying to build a Muslim nation. In the same some people present the concept of Hindu Rashtra to us…these people have the same mentality…the Talibans are violent. Are wild. But the people who support RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal have the same mentality.

“They have no love for minorities, like Taliban. They want women to be home, like the Taliban. What is the difference between the two? They say no law is superior than their religious faith, that is what the Talibans say. How are you different from them?” And giggled.

Added Akhtar: “Their goal is a bit far. You know, there is a constitution between them and their goal. But given have a chance, they will cross that.” He said, “There is no doubt about it they [talibs] are barbarian. But the people who you are supporting [Bajrang Dal, VHP and RSS], how are they different from them?”

(Newsbred would like to ask the lyricist: So is Akhtar trying to say that the prime minister and home minister of this country, ex foreign minister Sushma Swaraj, and eminent people from diverse strata of society including “metro man” Sreedharan are barbaric? Didn’t Nehru acknowledged RSS role in the 1962 War and former president Pranab Mukherjee praised their commitment to the nation, were they barbaric? Some two million regular participants in its 60,000 daily shakhas are barbaric?)

The NDTV anchor too alleged that Muslims are being attacked frequently in India for being Muslims.

An advocate Ashutosh J Dubey has filed a complaint with the Mankhurd Police Station. The Greater Mumbai Police has been requested to take cognizance of the matter and take action against Akhtar.

The complaint was based on the statement Akhtar gave to a website on Friday.

Maharashtra BJP MLA and spokesperson Ram Kadam issued a statement asking for Akhtar to apologize or films involving him won’t be allowed to be screened in the country.

The youth wing of BJP took out a protest march to Akhtar’s residence on Saturday.
