It has now been revealed that Kartarpur Gurdwara Darbar Sahib management committee used cigarette packaging as wrappers to pack and distribute kadah prasad to devotees, visiting the shrine located in the Punjab province of Pakistan, as per Dainik Bhaskar.
This came to light when a devotee opened the Prasad wrapper, only to find a “Gold Street International” brand of cigarette printed inside.
Images are circulating on social media about photographs of Nankana Sahib and Kartarpur Sahib on the outside but inside, there is a cigarette advertisement by Pakistan’s Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), the parent body of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdewara Parbhandhak Committee (PSGPC).
Consumption of cigarette and tobacco is a taboo in Sikhism.
Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC), on the other hand, claims an enquiry was has been carried out and it appeared work of some anti-social elements.
Majinder Singh Sirsa, president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, was outraged by the incident. He commented on twitter that it’s a conspiracy to hurt the faith and harass minority Sikhs in Pakistan.
In his subsequent Tweet, the BJP leader shared the picture of the wrapper and urged Pakistan PM Imran Khan to take strict action against the Gurdwara managing authority.
