‘Mamata’s fear: No publisher is willing to publish Yogi Adityanath’s biography’

Shantanu Gupta, the author of best-selling book, ‘The Monk Who Became Chief Minister’, a biography of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, has alleged that under the fear of Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, publishers in West Bengal had refused to publish the Bangla version of the book.

He said that Bengali manuscript was ready and was translated by the activist Debabrata Majhi, however, even after expressing their likeness, they refused to publish it.

Recounting the experience, Shantanu Gupta emphasised that due to fears of the Mamata Banerjee administration, the publishers do not want to publish the book.

“Publisher after publisher, everyone almost said the same thing. Didi & TMC will not like Yogi Adityanath’s biography to be published in Bengali. Most of them said that they wanted to publish it as it made good business sense. But, they did not want to take any risk.”

Considering the situation, the activist decided to publish the book through his own organisation ‘Agneeyug’ under the name ‘Sanyasi Theke Mukkyomontri‘.

He applauded the original author Shantanu Gupta for his comprehensive research about the life of Yogi Adityanath and said that translating the book has been a rewarding experience for him.

Debabrata Majhi is the president of SinghaBahini, a socio-religious organization founded by late Tapan Ghosh. He is also the BJP’s candidate from Chowringhee Vidhan Sabha constituency in West Bengal.
