MP arrests four on beheading call on priest Narsinghanand; AIMIM protests

The Madhya Pradesh police has arrested four Muslim men on Friday for protesting against Uttar Pradesh’s Dasna Devi temple’s head priest Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati.

Four men identified as Mateen Ajhari, Kasim Khan, Sohaib Khan and Raza Khan were detained and held in Kotwali Police station of Balaghat for putting up posters critical of Saraswati and slapping it with shoes.

Police booked all the four, accusing them for hurting religious sentiments and disturbing communal harmony. The arrests were made after  members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal filed a complaint under Sections 153-A, 295-A and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

The arrest came after thousands of Muslims gathered in Bareilly Islamia ground, demanding action against Yati Narsinghanand.

Durgesh Sharma, a member of the VHP, told reporters that Balaghat has been a peaceful district but a few people are trying to disrupt peace, which has been opposed by all Hindu outfits, including the VHP and Bajrang Dal. “If they were registering their opposition to something, it could be done through a memorandum. Such acts are not acceptable,” Sharma said.

Meanwhile, a delegation of political party, AIMIM met Balaghat superintendent of police on Friday and protested against the arrest of four men.
