Pegasus: They had alleged snooping; now not submitting devices to SC!

We all heard Congress leader Rahul Gandhi say in Parliament that Pegasus, along with judiciary and Election Commission, are instruments to destroy voice of people. Well, now that Supreme Court has decided to probe the Pegasus snooping allegation, almost all the alleged victims are not submitting their devices to the apex court, as per a report

It was last month when the technical committee appointed by the Supreme Court had issued a public notice asking citizens and alleged victims of the Pegasus spyware to contact the panel if they suspected their mobile devices had been infected by the malware.

The public notice had also asked the forthcoming complainants to allow the technical committee to examine the said devices.

However, as per the latest notice by the technical committee, only two people have submitted their mobile phones to the Pegasus panel.

The technical committee has again released a notice urging aggrieved people to come forward. It has extended the deadline to February 8.

One of the two person who has submitted his device is senior journalist J Gopikrshnan.

It was not long ago when a host of alleged victims, which include politicians, activists and journalists, were crying hoarse about the Pegasus snoopgate. The monsoon session of Parliament went under the water because of this outcry. There was even a name of 174 victims who had been targetted by the Modi government, they had alleged.

The Wire in collaboration with the Amnesty International had claimed they had carried out forensic analysis of 10 phones of Indians and as per them, it showed infected devices. Some cyber experts have deposed before the technical committee that there was malware present in the devices of their clients.
