Priyanka’s own MLA slams her on buses ‘sham’ for UP

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra, it appears, has bitten far more than she could chew in offering 1000 buses to migrants wanting to head home in Uttar Pradesh.

Priyanka, general secretary of Congress, has been lambasted by her own party’s MLA, Aditi Singh (Raebareli) who has claimed that “half of the buses exist only in name, 297 are fit for the junkyards, 98 are either auto-rickshaws or ambulances, 68 are without valid papers. What is the need for such low level of politics in this disaster” Aditi has tweeted.

Aditi, in a further tweet, remembered Kota where thousands of students from Uttar Pradesh were stuck due to lockdown. Yogi Adityanath, UP’s chief minister, had then arranged required buses overnight to facilitate their return to home. Even Rajasthan’s chief minister, Ashok Gehlot, had praised it. “This same Congress had then not taken the trouble to leave the stranded students even up to the borders, leave alone dropping them home.”

In a related development, Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu and Priyanka’s own secretary, Sandeep Singh, were booked by UP police on Tuesday which claimed that they had given false information to public servants which was dishonest in nature and amounted to forgery. The case was registered at the behest of a Road Transport Officer (RTO), R.P. Trivedi, apparently aghast by mismatch and other deficiencies in promised 1000 buses.

Last Saturday, Priyanka had offered the buses for stranded migrants and Yogi Adityanath had accepted her offer and asked Gandhi to send the buses to Noida and Ghaziabad with relevant details by Tuesday afternoon.
