‘Protesting farmers are delaying oxygen delivery in Delhi; Kejriwal can’t care’

As Delhi continues to record a surge in the corona cases amid the second wave, over 20,000 protesting farmers are moving towards Tikri Border from different parts of Punjab thereby blocking the highways.

The entire country is suffering from the distressing situation but the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait has chosen to turn blind to it after he along with other leaders alleged that there are no reports of Covid-19 cases at protest sites and refused to move out from the place.

However, their protest has resulted in the delay of a truck which was carrying the oxygen for Delhi hospitals by over two hours. Inox Air Products which is a major supplier and whose trucks have even been seen aboard the ‘Oxygen Express’ has stated that their vehicles are travelling over extra 100 kilometres due to the ongoing protests.

Bharatiya Janata Party IT cell chief Amit Malviya was quick to target these protestors. He took to his official Twitter handle and wrote, “Delhi is choking for oxygen because national highways leading to the city have been blocked by Andolan-Jeevis, leading to suppliers losing precious time.”

He also lashed out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for assisting the farmers with food supplies for his own petty political reasons.

Kejriwal has been feeding these protests with an eye on Punjab elections next year.. Delhi can suffer. Kejriwal doesn’t care.” said Amit Malviya.

Meanwhile the The farmer leaders present at the border are continuously dismissing the allegations that the protests might increase covid-19 cases in the national capital.

“We started this agitation while the pandemic was on. But has there been any spread. There is no Corona here. There are so many people gathering here, we will make Corona go away. We are not scared of Corona,” said one of the farmers present there.

On Wednesday, India reported 2,95,041 new cases, 2,023 deaths and 1,67,457 discharges in the last 24 hours, as per the Union health ministry.
