Raj Babbar set to leave Congress for Samajwadi Party

Ahead of crucial assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Congress might face another massive jolt after sources alleged that former UP chief and party senior leader Raj Babbar is all set for his “Ghar wapsi” in Samajwadi Party.

According to a report, SP leader Fakhrul Hasan Chaand has confirmed that SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Raj Babbar are in constant touch for the past 10 days and the latter has agreed to rejoin the party.

Raj Babbar was suspended from the parliamentary board of the SP for criticising party leader Amar Singh in 2006 and had joined the Congress in 2008.

His exit will be the second big jolt to Congress party after its heavyweight leader and former Union Minister RPN Singh also joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
