Champat Raui, general secretary of the Ram Mandi Temple Trust, said the price of the land, buying of which has led to allegations of scam, is far less than the prevailing rates.
Champat Rai said the quoted price of the land was Rs 1,423 per square feet which is far less than the market price of nearby areas.
The controversy broke out when the Ram Mandir Temple Trust bought the land at Rs 18.5 crores from one Sultan Ansari who, in turn, had bought it from one Kusum Pathak for Rs 2 crores.
Since both the deals were done in a matter of 15 minutes, the charges were levied by Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh, and later by Pawan Pandey of Samajwadi Party.
However, as was explained by NewsBred yesterday, the deal involving Kusum Pathak-Sultan Ansari dated back to 2019, the full payment of which was still pending.
After the Supreme Court gave a verdict in favour Ram Temple, the land prices of the area shot up exponentially in the area. The Trust, in order to get the Temple made, needed parcels of lands for the grand construction for the above of the Hindu god.
Hence, for this purpose, the Trust approached Ansari and once known that the deal was far from complete, it wanted Ansari to first conduct the deal before settling the matter with itself in a bid to ensure there was no legal wrangling later on.
Along with Champat Rai, Swami Avdheshanand Giri of the Juan Akhada has also issued a statement and said the transactions related to the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was authentic and transparent.
