Sea of humanity surge around Shah; Bengal looks ready to be free of ‘fear politics’

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the days of “fear politics” that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee promoted in the state are over.

In only a few months Mamata’s days at the helm would be over as the BJP will win the next assembly elections.

He said that the large crowds participating in his roadshow at Bolpur were a clear proof of the changes that are happening in the state.

On Sunday, the second day of his tour of West Bengal, Shah held a massive roadshow which started from Hanuman Mandir Stadium Road and ended at Bolpur Circle. Thousands of people gathered on the roads of Birbhum bursting crackers, showering flowers on the participants and chanted slogans of Jai Shri Ram. Pointing to the large enthusiastic crowds gathered at the venue, Shah said “Mamata’s days were numbered”.

He said: “TMC’s countdown has started, the people of Bengal are in a tizzy. The public will overthrow TMC, the public’s excitement tells that the attack on Nadda has backfired on Mamata. We are going to get over 200 seats under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Corruption is here among several other issues, the people of Bengal are depressed. Bengal workers will fight the elections here. Sons of Bengal will fight the elections. The crowd of people is saying everything. Fear politics will not work here anymore.”

For Shah, Sunday was a busy day which started with a visit to Vishva-Bharati where he paid tributes to Rabindranath Tagore on the university campus. He also visited Upasana Griha (prayer house) and Sangeet Bhavan, where students rendered Rabindra Sangeet. He followed it up with lunch at the house of a local Baul singer in Bolpur.

Within these two days of his action-packed Bengal tour, Shah has been able to enthuse the BJP workers. The exodus from TMC of party heavyweight Shuvendu Adhikari on Saturday, and several other leaders and their joining the BJP is a shot in the arm for the saffron party ahead of the impending assembly polls, less than six months away.

Adhikari is no stranger to strong arm tactics used by supporters of Trinamool Congress of Mamata and he can prove to be a handful for her in the days to come. He has been provided Z category security within Bengal as some senior BJP leaders had said earlier that there was serious threat to him.
