SpiceJet flight crashes with electric pole at Delhi airport; was Jammu-bound

A SpiceJet flight with passengers onboard the aircraft collided with an electric pole at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The incident happened on Monday during the pushback of the aircraft.

Airport officials said the aircraft was changed following the incident and passengers were shifted to another flight. An investigation into the incident has been launched, they added.

As per the airline, flight SG 160 was scheduled to depart for Jammu from Delhi.

“Today, SpiceJet flight SG 160 was scheduled to operate between Delhi & Jammu. During push back, the right-wing trailing edge came in close contact with a pole, causing damage to aileron. A replacement aircraft has been arranged to operate the flight,” a SpiceJet spokesperson was quoted as saying by ANI.

Reports said the incident involved a Boeing 737-800 aircraft and it took place when the plane was moving from the passenger terminal to the runway. Both the plane and the electric pole were damaged in the incident.

The aircraft was brought back to the bay following the incident and passengers were then shifted to another plane.
