Uttarakhand has a girl Chief Minister for a day: Srishti Goswami





On the occasion of National Girl Child Day, Uttarakhand state is setting an example across the country. Srishti Goswami, a Haridwar-based teenager will become the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand for one day. She is going to take the chair today to mark National Girl Child Day. 

She will administer from Gairsain, the summer capital of the state, and will review various schemes run including Atal Ayushman Scheme and Smart City project run by the Trivender Singh Rawat government in Uttarakhand. She will also have to go through the Homestay Scheme by the tourism department, and other development projects. Apart from this, she will also take part in child assembly session in Dehradun

Goswami hails from Daulatpur village in the Haridwar district. She is a BSc Agriculture student at BSM PG College Roorkee. In May 2018, she became the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Bal Vidhan Sabha (Children’s State Assembly). Her father Praveen is a businessman and her mother Sudha Goswami is a homemaker.

To make her acquainted with the role, officials of various departments under the state government are going to give a five-minute presentation before she starts functioning as the CM. The arrangements for the same have already been made at the state assembly building in Gairsain. “Srishti has been working with us for a while now and we are well aware of her capabilities,” Usha Negi, President of the Uttarakhand Child Rights Protection Commission revealed.

Talking about the opportunity, Srishti shared her pleasure and said, “I still cannot believe if this is true. I am so overwhelmed. But at the same time, I will do my best to prove that youth can excel in administration while working for people’s welfare.”
