Vaishnaw comes calling on a passenger train; does his bit in cleaning : Watch

Ditching the VIP way, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw took the passenger train from Bhubaneswar to Rayagadassen and interacted with people seeking their feedback on rail services and hygiene.

The conversation with passengers ranged from talking about the amenities on Indian Railways and whether or not the protocols of Swachh Bharat are being followed. Vaishnaw also conversed with youth to understand their for a ‘new India’.

A female passenger with whom Vaishnaw had a discussion said, “I am extremely happy meeting the Railway Minister. He is such a nice person and so down to earth. He encourages youth a lot.”

When the woman said that she could never think of meeting a minister of his stature in a passenger train, he diligently replies that they are no different from them.

“Hum toh dekho aap hi ke jaise hain, sadharan nagrik hain (We are ordinary citizens, just like you)”. He then tells the passengers that his children are of their age. “Aaj miss kar raha tha, apne baccho se nahin mil paya toh aapse mil liya, (I was missing my kids, but couldn’t meet them so I have met you, you are also like them),” Vaishnaw could be heard saying in the video shared on his Twitter handle.

He also said mentioned how “it feels so good to be on India’s lifeline where you are working on a mission. It brings a bigger sense of responsibility and tells you how important the Rail feedback is.”

He added that passengers have seen and appreciated the improvements in the Railway system since the Modi government came into power.

“What the consumers told me is that they are happy to see the Railways being more cleaner and efforts being made to make it an ‘experience mode of travel’. This has happened because of the vision of the Prime Minister, but we have miles to go before we can rest; the potential of the Indian Railways in nation-building is immense,” he said in another tweet.

In another event, he was also seen picking up the trash after the event in Odisha. He picked up the coconut and threw that in the nearby dustbin, showing his devotion to the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The bureaucrat-turned-politician is on a maiden trip to his home state Odisha as part of the Jan Ashriwad Yatra, a 142-day long outreach program organized by the BJP.

As a part of Yatra, The ministers have been asked to tour their respective states and constituencies and meet the people to create awareness about various welfare schemes of the Central government and also seek blessings from the public.
