Violence knows no stopping; now its inside Bengal assembly!

There is no stopping violence in Bengal and this time it was within the sanctity of Assembly where Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) found its legislators not only thrashed but also suspended!

It all began when the BJP MLAs demanded that discussion be initiated on the law and order situation in Bengal in light of the horrific crime in Birbhum where eight people were beaten and charred to death following the killing of a TMC leader Bhadu Sheikh in a crude bomb attack.

Even as the Opposition were demanding that the chief minister Mamata Banerjee speak to the House over the pathetic law and order situation in the State, “they brought Kolkata police personnel in civil dress to clash with our MLAs,” said Suvendhu Adhikari of BJP who is leader of the opposition in the assembly.

‘MLAs are not safe even inside the assembly. At least 8-10 of our legislators were beaten up, including Chief Whip Manoj Tigga, by some TMC MLAs,” he added.

Afterwards, it was Adhikari and four other BJP legislators who found themselves suspended for the whole of this year.

In a video shared by BJP leaders, including its IT cell chief Amit Malviya and spokesperson Shehzad Jai Hind, TMC MLAs are seen venting their anger with fists several MLAs are seen locked in a scuffle on the floor of the House as marshals and police officers struggle to stop the fight.

The sources claimed that the TMC MLAs who were allegedly behind the assault, were Abdul Rahim Boxi and Shaukat Molla, who are said to be close to Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, Abhishek Banerjee.

Trinamool leader and state minister Firhad Hakim, however, put the blame on the BJP. “Some of our MLAs were injured inside the House. We condemn the conduct of the BJP,” he said.
