Now that the news is out that former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi is dating former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen, the buzz is on as to whatever happened to his first wife.
Modi posted a clutch of pictures on social media from his recent trip to the Maldives with Sen, while referring to her as his better half in the caption.
Modi who has been very sensitive on his personal life suddenly thrust the spotlight on himself with the revelation that he is dating Sushmita. It has led to people being curious about Modi’s first wife, Minal Modi, more so since the picture of Modis with Sushmita Sena in good old days began trending on social media.
Minal Modi married Lalit in 1991 and the two were together till 2018 when she passed away. She lost her battle to cancer at the age of 64. With Lalit it wasn’t her first marriage. Minal had been married to a Nigeria-based Sindhi businessman, Jack Sagrani.
Once Minal was single again, she began dating with Lalit though the former’s family opposed the affair as the two shared an age-difference of nine years. The couple had two children: Ruchir Modi and daughter Alia. Lalit Modi has a step-daughter Karima Sagrani from Minal’s first marriage.
Sushmita Sen was earlier in a relationship with model Rohman Shawl for three long years until 2021, after which both of them publicly announced their breakup. Years ago, she was in a much-talked-about relationship with filmmaker Vikram Bhatt.
