Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said his government won’t spare any guilty person in the Lakhimpur Kheri case but “arrest would be made on the basis of proof and not on allegations.”
“Everyone is equal before the law and according to the Supreme Court, no one can be arrested without evidence, and investigation is underway. FIR has been lodged against a written complaint and no one will be spared,” he said at a conclave organised by a private news channel.
Stating the incident unfortunate, Yogi Adityanath said that the law would take its course and further informed that an SIT and a judicial commission has been constituted by the government in this case.
On being asked whether their government is trying to save the minister Ajay Mishra’s son, Ashish Mishra, CM Yogi categorically said that no evidence had come to the fore against them.
“There is no such video. We have issued numbers, and if anyone has evidence, they can upload it. All will be crystal clear. There will be no injustice with anyone. No one will be allowed to take the law in his hand but no action will be taken under any pressure,” he said.
“Be it a BJP MLA or an opposition MLA and anyone in any post. We never hesitated in taking action. In Lakhimpur incident also, the government is doing the same thing,” he added further.
Hitting out at the opposition leaders, trying to politicise the Kheri incident, Yogi said that these opposition leaders were not messengers of goodwill.
“These leaders are trying to create a chasm. We won’t allow that to happen. The families of the victims themselves said that they are satisfied with the government,” he said.
He also added that Congress’s sympathy for farmers was nothing but crocodile tears as Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel could not handle his state, and some farmers in Chhattisgarh were killed by police.
Taking a dig at Congress Uttar Pradesh secretary Priyanka Gandhi’s video sweeping the floor of a guesthouse’s room, CM Yogi said, “They have been reduced to this by the people of the state.”
On the controversy over his “Abba jaan” remark, he said, “Abba jaan is not an unparliamentary word. There are political parties who want Muslim votes but are shying away from the word Abba jaan.”
CM Yogi also launched a scathing attack on Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav and AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi. Calling Akhilesh a son of a “rich man” who doesn’t know about the ground reality, Yogi stated Akhilesh Yadav has no time to know about the development and investment happening in the state.
“He wakes up at 12 noon, gets ready by 2 pm and meets his friends. By 4 pm, he goes for cycling. When the people were in need, he was touring Australia and London. I wish him to go to Australia or Europe and have fun, I will be happy that one man of Uttar Pradesh has become NRI,” he added.
On Owaisi allegations that 35 per cent of Muslims are feeling harassed, Adityanath said, “If he could give a statement on the incidents in Kashmir, where Hindus and Sikhs are being killed, he would have become leader.”
During the event, Yogi Adityanath also said that the UP administration is also taking stringent actions towards illegal religious conversion.
“The Goraksha Peeth and thousands of organisations serve people but do not bargain for conversion. I advise the governments of states like Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan to focus on such issues,” he said.
