Yogi government in an overdrive to contain pandemic in villages of UP





With each passing day, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is taking stringent actions to contain the deadly virus. Focusing especially on rural areas, the government has appointed several bodies and civil groups such as Asha, Anganwadi, and ANM that are strictly screening villages following the ‘test, trace and treat’ rule.

In a statement, the government mentioned, “They [the committees] have been given oximeters and infrared thermometers to identify the symptoms. After identifying the suspected cases of Covid-19, the representatives pass on the information to the Rapid Response Teams (RRTs), which visit the residences of the suspected cases and conduct tests. Subsequently, tests are conducted on the family members of the suspected cases also”.

These groups are conducting more than 100,000 tests daily for the identification of the suspected cases through the RRTs. 

According to the report, out of the total 2.99 lakh samples tested for coronavirus on Wednesday, more than 2.19 lakh were tested in the rural areas of the state. 

Along with other awareness campaigns, The government has also started a sanitization campaign to curb the spread of Covid-19 in villages

So far, more than four lakh members of 60,589 monitoring committees have visited 79,512 villages and have detected infections in 28,742 villages, making as many as 64% of the villages covid-free.
