Yogi takes pain to explain ‘Love-Jihad’: ‘Never been misused in my State”

Yogi Adityanath has taken care to explain “Love Jihad” and the law against it in his state Uttar Pradesh which is nonexistent in popular discourse.

For one, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister says it’s not restricted to one community and is applicable to all communities. Further, he claimed the law has never been misused by his government.

In an interview to Republic TV, Yogi threw light on how things get inter-connected if the State doesn’t keep a close vigil.

The UP chief minister said two individuals had attempted to enter an ashram in Ghaziabad to meet a saint by giving fake Hindu names at the gate. They were found in possession of a surgical blade.

It was later learnt they were Muslims. A link with the Batala House also emerged. It led the investigating agencies to one Mohammad Umar Gautam. Further layers peeled revealed that Umar Gautam had a network across 25 states in India via the Batala House. And that he received funding from agencies around the world via hawala.

These perpetrators used deaf and dumb children to gain entry into houses following which they converted the entire family, said Yogi. They received training via WhatsApp messages and noted that such messaged could only be deciphered by special cyber experts.

Making a sensational claim, Yogi said these deaf and dumb children were used for attacking important centres, religious places, VVIPs as a part of a suicide squad.

“We have all the proof. A full team of 500 members are working on this case. This is a big crime,” said Yogi.

Not just children, the State’s Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) found out that women were also lured with fake promises of cash, job and marriage and later converted. Umar Gautam, himself a convert, claimed that he had converted at least 1,000 people to Islam. “I converted at least 1,000 non-Muslims to Islam, marrying them all to Muslims,” Gautam had boasted.

Meanwhile, as more arrests are made, the UP ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar claimed that one of the latest arrests—Irfan Khayaza—is an interpreter in the Ministry of Children’s Welfare in Delhi.
