Bengal governor slams Mamata for rampant lawlessness in state

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar slammed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for rising lawlessness in the state.

The Governor launched a series of attacks on West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying she should take note of increasing human rights violations, political violence, vendetta and custodial torture” in the state.

Governor, in his open letter, also highlighted how police intervention has increased in every sector of government. Further, the Governor has mentioned how he thinks that the state has become a home to illegal bomb-making with a strong influence to disturb and unsettle democracy.

He was very critical about the role of the WB Police force in his letter.

Governor wrote, Recent custodial death of Madan Ghorai alias Kalipada Ghorai of BJP is yet another horrifying instance of dehumanizing torture, assault, and death in custody. Such shameful incidents dotting the State, have assumed horrendous proportions, impeaching the credibility of rule of law and evidence capsizing of administration of the criminal system,”

He further urged the CM to ensure ‘democratic governance’ in the state saying, “high time you redeem your constitutional oath and enforce rule of law.”
