BJP exposes the alleged hypocrisy of Amarinder Singh, Sharad Pawar

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh was exposed by Bhartiya Janata Party as having himself promised the farm reforms he is trashing today.

BJP’s national general secretary BL Santosh today made public a document, reportedly presented by the task force team formed by Amarinder himself, under the “Marketing Reforms” segment.  It states that the party (Congress) would work towards “opening up agricultural marketing beyond APMCs to increase the scope of selling farmers’ produce. Doubling of areas under high-value fruit orchards and vegetables.”

It was further revealed that the document has all the points that are already present in the present farm laws made contentious.

Santosh also targeted Sharad Pawar, mentioning that in 2010 and 2011, he had written letters to the then Delhi chief minister Sheila Dixit and Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, suggesting that the agriculture sector requires well-functioning markets.

The NCP chief had further pointed out that this requires huge investment in market infrastructure as well as the participation of the private sector. Sharad Pawar had then advocated the changes in the APMC act which are one of the reasons behind the current farmers’ protests, alleged Santosh.

In his letter to Chouhan, he remarked that “encouraging private sector investment in marketing infrastructure and providing alternate competing marketing channels’ which will be beneficial for the farmers, consumers as well as the traders.”

While the opposition is trying their best to misguide farmers for their political benefits, prime minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Friday, clearing every misunderstanding on the farm bills.

Modi also asserted that their government is always ready for talks with those who are opposing the bills. However, he also maintained that the discussion will be entirely based on facts and logic. Stressing that his government is taking all possible steps to ensure the welfare of farmers, he appealed to them to not fall prey to the lies spread by some political parties.
