“It seems Congress doesn’t want to come to power in next 100 years”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a frontal attack on Congress and said it seems the latter doesn’t want to come to power in 100 years.

Modi was replying to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha in the ongoing Budget Session of the Parliament on Monday.

Amongst other things, Modi lingered on Covid-19 and how the nation wrestled with the terrible calamity and slammed Congress and Aam Aadmi Party in particular for their deplorable role.

“The Congress Party has crossed all limits in this time of Covid-19. During the first wave, when people were following lockdowns, guidelines were suggesting that people stay where they are, the Congress was standing at Mumbai Station and scaring innocent people. It gave tickets to go from Mumbai to UP and Bihar. You created ruckus.

“The Delhi goverment went to slums and told migrants to go home amid the Covid pandemic. It resulted in the spread of Covid-19,” charged Modi.

“Somewhere the Opposition’s needle is stuck in 2014. You should come out of this. The public knows it, they have recognised.

“Nagaland voted for Congress 24 years ago, Odisha voted for you 27 years ago. You won with a full majority in Goa 28 years ago. In 1988, Tripura voted for Congress. West Benga voted for Congress in 1972. You take credit for the creation of Telangana but the public did not accept you.

“After losing so many elections there is no change in your (Congress) ‘Ahankaar’ (ego).

“Wherever people got a way, they didn’t let you enter again. Don’t show them mirrors, they will break the mirrors too,” said Modi in a blistering attack.

“They thought maybe this country will never be able to save itself or fight such a big battle (on Covid). Today, India is reaching 100 per cent first dose vaccination and 80 per cent second dose completed. Corona too was used for politics – is it good for humanity?

“Some thought Covid will harm Modi’s Image. You use Gandhi’s name. So what about his slogan for Swadeshi? Don’t you want India to become atmanirbhar? You don’t want to see Gandhi’s dreams come true,?” said the prime minister in his inimitable style.

The prime minister, before his speech, paid tributes to “Lata Didi” and said through her music she unified the nation.

Earlier, President Ram Nath Kovind highlighted the government’s accomplishments in the aftermath of the Covid-19 crisis.

He mentioned the inflow of 48 billion dollars in investment in the first seven months of the current financial year. He said it was a testimony that the global investor community had faith in India’s growth story.
